Dog the Bounty Hunter Explains What it Will Take to Get El Chapo

Dog the Bounty Hunter has captured thousands of small-time drug offenders in his time, but he’ll leave the hunt for the head of one of the world’s deadliest drug cartels for someone who’s more qualified, the TV star tells Fox 411.

They asked him about the hunt for Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, head of Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel, who escaped from prison recently through an elaborate tunnel.

“He probably would be out of my league,” said Dog, whose real name is Duane Chapman. “In order to take him down, number one, you better have a fully automatic weapon. With my weapon, you have to get really close to him — and you couldn’t get that close to him because he probably has five or six guys with him at all times.”

Dog’s weapon of choice that he’s referring to is pepper spray. He can’t carry a real gun because of an old felony conviction.

Dog also said he won’t go south of the border to catch criminals anymore, which is where he believes El Chapo is. Dog was arrested by Mexican authorities in the early 2000s after he captured a convicted rapist who was hiding out there. Bounty hunters are 100 percent illegal in Mexico.

The Mexican government is offering a $3.8 million reward for information leading to El Chapo’s arrest.
