Future Lands His First Number One Album With ‘Dirty Sprite 2’

If you’ve noticed an overwhelming sense of calm emanating from practically everyone you’ve encountered this week, just know the uniformed mood is no accident. The world has been listening to Dirty Sprite 2, bathing in its caffeine-free utopia with Shutterstocked glee. Don’t believe us, #FutureHive detractors? Simply consult the current Billboard 200 — featuring 199 albums crushed beneath the weight of Future’s DS2 haul of 147,000.

This marks Future’s first number one album, proving — as we have repeatedly warned you — that the power of #FutureHive extends well beyond Twitter mentions and Instagram edits. DS2’s first week numbers come in slightly higher than initial projections, which placed the blunt-ready collection somewhere in the neighborhood of 125,000.

Earlier this week, Future embarked on a brief but wildly free (as in: costs zero dollars) tour dubbed Salute the Fans — featuring stops in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. Given these first week numbers, Future might very well be saluting the Hive again very soon.
