Obviously new music is a long shot at this point, so we’ll have to take any Andre 3000 news we can get. According to Variety, the often-elusive OutKast rapper has been tapped as a co-star for ABC’s anthology crime drama American Crime. The role will reconnect Andre Benjamin and show runner John Ridley, who wrote and directed Jimi: All Is by My Side, the Jimi Hendrix biopic in which Benjamin starred. “Working with Andre changed my life, personally and professionally on All Is by My Side,” Ridley said. “To have him joining me for season two is pretty phenomenal.”

Andre will play the part of a father whose teenager is suspected of the second season’s central crime, according to Variety.

Ridley also credited the Hendrix biopic with his leading the charge for American Crime. “Personally, I couldn’t be more excited than to work again with Andre,” he said. “He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All Is by My Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime. Folks at ABC were absolutely moved by Andre’s performance in the film, and by the overall language of cinema we used in telling the story. It’s fair to say American Crime might not exist were it not for our previous collaboration.”
