Last night at a gala for the Global Lyme Alliance, Bella Hadid’s mother Yolanda Foster revealed that the 18-year-old model is living with chronic Lyme disease.

Hadid was diagnosed in 2012 with the tick-born disease that can cause fatigue, muscle aches, and trouble concentrating. Her mother also shared that her younger brother was diagnosed during an emotional speech, reports ABC News.

“This award is for Anwar and Bella,” she said while accepting the Power of One trophy. “This is my token and my promise to you that I will not allow you to live a life of pain and suffering, I will walk to the end of the earth to find a cure so that you can live a healthy life that you deserve. No child should suffer in the way that you do.”

Foster has been an advocate for bringing awareness to the disease since her diagnosis three years ago.
