Watch 21 Savage Freestyle Over Gucci Mane’s Classic “Sun Valley” Track

21 Savage stopped by the 88 Rising’s studio where he freestyled over Gucci Mane’s classic “Sun Valley” beat from his 2008 EA Sportscenter mixtape. The beat is filled with Instrumental City tags, but the rapper doesn’t let it stop his flow. He does take a moment to acknowledge the perpetual tags at the end though. “They keep saying ‘Instrumental City’. Through the whole goddamn beat ‘Instrumental City.'”

“21 is a cool dude.” 88 Rising captioned the video. “He came by and freestyled over a bootleg INSTRUMENTAL CITY beat that someone put on…gave zero fucks and kept rapping.”

Interestingly enough, Gucci actually named Savage among the rising group of rappers that he would want to collaborate with when speaking to Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex. Listing 21 Savage, Young M.A., Dae Dae, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Yachty, Gucci explained, “I embrace anything that’s new. If they come out and do the Stanky Leg, it’s hard. If they come out and do snap music, it’s hard. If they come out doing the Nae Nae, I like it. At the end of the day, it’s a different generation. And it’s theirs, it’s not mine. Instead of me judging it, I embrace it and support it.”

Most recently, Savage linked up with Drake on the 6 God’s new track, “Sneakin,” which premiered on OVO Sound Radio for Drizzy’s 30th birthday. As Drake put it, Savage is a “young October king with all the juice right now.” It doesn’t get much better than getting co-signs from both Gucci and Drake within a few weeks of each other.

Hopefully this freestyle cements that Gucci and Savage collaboration in the future. For now, watch him lay down some bars in the nearly four minute freestyle below.
