Desiigner might have hit it big with “Panda” and his deal with G.O.O.D. Music, but the Brooklyn teenager hasn’t forgotten about his roots. He revisits where he came from in his new I Am Def Jam mini-doc. The three-minute clip finds Desiigner reflecting on how much has changed for him. “I always saw myself as being an artist. Being able to create things out, and put things out for people to enjoy and for people to watch, that’s me,” he said.

For Desiigner, being able to afford to get out of his old neighborhood was a very positive occurrence in his life. “I was definitely in a lot of trouble in what I was doing before music. I was in the wrong places, I was in the wrong timing. I got hit, I got shot,” he said. “Music saved me and took me out… It’s rough out there.” Now, he’s trying to come back to his neighborhood and help inspire the youth. “My job is to come back to my community and change, and show that there’s other things to do,” he said.

Finally, the G.O.O.D Music rapper offered up some advice, telling people to “take their time” with their art, have faith and follow their dreams. Love him or hate him, it’s good to see Desiigner have this type of attitude towards his old block, especially after a year of paling around with hip-hop’s elite.

It’s been a little over five months since Fetty Wap and Masika Kalysha welcomed their baby daughter Khari to the world. The life-changing event was featured on this week’s episode of Love & Hip Hop, which depicted the parents as nothing less than a happy family; however, according to Kalysha, her baby daddy has been M.I.A. ever since.

During an interview on Power 106’s The Cruz Show, Kalysha was asked how the “Trap Queen” rapper has been handling his duties as a father, specifically when it comes to changing diapers.

“He hasn’t done anything actually,” she said. “The only changing he’s done is his personality.”

Ouch. The DJs then pointed out how Fetty previously stated he was going to be part of the child’s life, to which Kalysha responded: “He said a lot of things.”

Prior to the interview and Tuesday’s episode of Love & Hip Hop, the new mother went to social media accusing Fetty of lying to her about wanting to be a good parent.

Hot on the heels of the release of his new album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, Travi$ Scott stopped by Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning on Wednesday to catch up with the crew. While he was there, he spent some time talking about the impact he feels Kid Cudi has made on music and said he believes Cudi is underappreciated. “Not at all,” Travi$ said when he was asked if he thinks people give Cudi enough credit. “Cudi should be a top tier artist…I think he fathered a lot of the style of music. He’s a good influence and a good help.”

Travi$ also discussed the long-awaited G.O.O.D. Music compilation, Cruel Winter, and said he has played a key role in its creation. “Cruel Winter, I’m going to be executive producing that album,” he said, before delivering the first hard release window we’ve heard for the project. “It’s coming very soon… I’m saying February.” He went on to reveal that “every G.O.O.D. Music artist is involved.” Travi$ also promised the album will be “very youthful, straight to the point, just the illest ever.” It will serve as the official follow-up to the 2012 G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Summer.

Elsewhere in the interview, Travi$ talked about meeting and working with Kendrick Lamar, noting that Kendrick makes every song his own. “That’s why he’s the greatest artist,” he said. “[He] don’t care if it’s a feature, he’s like ‘It’s my song.'”

Travi$ also touched on about his new album as well as Kanye’s thoughts on and contributions to the project.

Isaiah Rashad Explains Where He Has been Since BET Cypher + What To Expect From His Album

Tyler, The Creator is a man with many titles: director, producer, graphic designer, as well as a self-proclaimed “park ranger.” But the 25-year-old is most known as an eccentric, often polarizing rapper. Though his DGAF persona has resulted in some trouble throughout his career, it appears the Odd Future co-founder is now attempting to change his image.

Before taking the stage at Afropunk Brooklyn over the weekend, Tyler sat down for an official festival interview. The first topic at hand was the recent change to his Twitter account, which now features the handle @TylertheCreator instead of the initial @FuckTyler.

“My stock just went up because of that name change, and only idiots won’t understand that,” he said. “How can I contact corporations, like ‘Yo, invest a bunch of money in me. I have a lot of really good ideas,’ and I’m like ‘Yo, they don’t reply to me.’ Oh yeah, my name has this in it. Like, that first impression is automatically out the window […] I just had a bunch of gnarly tweets under that name, so I’m just putting that era to rest.”

Unfortunately for Tyler, some of the decisions made during “that era” are still affecting him today. Case in point? His three-to-five-year ban from the U.K., which was issued after officials claimed his lyrics were inciting terrorism.

“Do I look like a terrorist? […] I still have trouble getting on flights because I’m on a no-fly list,” he said before he was asked if he expected the backlash. “I was 17 and 18, I didn’t think that stuff I was writing would matter. […] I’m not going to apologize for the things I said, because at the time, that shit was cool, and we were young and just having fun and just saying crazy stuff. But I’m not going to sit and write some stupid press release.”

Tyler also confirmed he’s not working on any new projects, as he’s been spending his time “living life” and “chilling.”

In a new sit down with Real 92.3’s Big Boy in the Morning, 50 Cent made a startling reveal that he actually never even knew how his beef with The Game ever began or what they were fighting about.

“I always said I didn’t understand where it came from. He explained it to me,” 50 said. “We’re in the same place. We’re cool. I haven’t wished bad on him the entire time.” If you haven’t been keeping up, 50 and the Game resolved their alleged feud when they recently chilled together, squashing whatever tension that may have existed before.

Earlier this month, the former enemies hit up the Ace of Diamonds strip club together in Los Angeles. TMZ caught up with them outside the club where they were chatting and not shy about telling the cameras that everything was all good between them now. “I fuck with 50,” Game said at the time before taking a second to promote 50’s vodka business. “What happened, that shit was 12 years ago. Niggas ain’t on that shit. Drink your motherfucking Effen [vodka].”
