Singer Nicki Minaj leaves the Jeremy Scott fashion show with Safaree ¿Scaff Beezy¿ Samuels at Milk Studios in New York City

Nicki Minaj has never been one to divulge much about her love life. But over the years, we pretty much came to the conclusion that she and longtime hypeman Safaree Samuels were an item.

Rumors have been circulating for some time now stating that the pair has called it quits, and Safaree even went as far as to cover his Nicki tats. And we may finally know why. According to TMZ, the pair got into a serious argument during the summer, in which the sassy rapper smashed her ex-boo’s car.

TMZ reports:

She started screaming, he got pissed, and she EXPLODED in anger, grabbing a bat and chasing him out of the house. She wisely chose property over person, and pulverized the 2012 Benz. Law enforcement sources [say] … cops were called to the house but no arrests were made. Safaree was escorted out of the house and left.

Fortunately for the femcee, she did not get in trouble because the car she bashed belonged to her and she allowed Safaree to use it. Tough break.

RIP Maya Angelou

Dr. Maya Angelou Has Died

Celebrated activist and civil rights legend passed away Wednesday morning.

After battling health problems, the legendary Dr. Maya Angelou passed away due to an unknown illness.

Born Marguerite Johnson in St. Louis on April 4, 1928, Angelou is famous for iconic work like her book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and the poem “On the Pulse of Morning,” which she recited in 1993 at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration. Angelou appeared in several films, including 1977’s Roots and 1993’s Poetic Justice, which made her poem “Phenomenal Woman” an anthem for women of all backgrounds and sizes. In later years, Angelou was also known as a mentor to Oprah Winfrey and famously told the mogul, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

Maya’s activism was a steady force throughout her life. She fought for equality on all levels and once said, “Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future and renders the present inaccessible.”

The iconic Maya Angelou will be deeply missed. Our condolences to Dr. Angelou’s fans, friends and family.

WORD’S TAKEN FROM TMZ

Days after footage of the Met Gala after-party drama was released to the public, Beyonce, Jay-Z and Solange have released a joint statement on the matter. And no, it’s not via Instagram.

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it,” the trio said in an exclusive statement to the Associated Press on Thursday.

“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

There’s more:

“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

The Standard Hotel, where the incident took place following the annual Met Gala, has since fired the individual responsible for recording the video.
