Exclusive: Bubba Sparxxx discusses Lord Jamar’s comments about white rappers being “guests in the house of Hip Hop.”
In a video interview released via VladTV September 21, Lord Jamar took platinum-selling artist Macklemore to task while also addressing class division, homosexuality and other topics.
“White rappers, you’re coming to this almost as a guest,” Lord Jamar said. “As a matter of fact, you are guests in the house of Hip Hop. Just because you have a hit record, doesn’t give you the right—as I feel—to voice your opinion.”
In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX that detailed his hiatus from music and battles with drug addiction, Bubba Sparxxx responded to the Brand Nubian member’s comments.
“I have the utmost respect for someone like Lord Jamar,” Bubba said. “He’s one of my predecessors in this, and I would never deny that at its core and the foundation of Hip Hop culture…it started predominantly as a black and Latino thing. But white people have always been present in Hip Hop since the very beginning. You can’t say that white people haven’t been around since the beginning. There are some very pioneering forces that are white.”
Bubba Sparxxx Says He Chose To Take Color Out Of Hip Hop
As it regards his own personal stance, Bubba Sparxxx added that he chooses not to prioritize skin color, and he thinks others will make the same choice.
“I myself chose to take color out of it, but if someone wants to continue to draw those lines, people keep erasing them,” Bubba said. “I don’t see where you can draw that line with anything more than a pencil, because those lines continue to get more and more blurry. But at the root of what he is saying, it’s not untrue.”
Aside from his own personal dealings with the likes of the Dungeon Family and Timbaland—the latter served as the Executive Producer on Bubba’s album, Deliverance—Sparxxx noted his manager Bobby Stamps. Sparxxx pointed to Stamps as someone who had been going to various records stores and supporting independent Hip Hop in the South since 1980. Additionally, Sparxxx also questioned the link between consumerism and participation.
“If white people are purchasing and buying Hip Hop over a period of five to 10 years, its only logical to assume and know that if they are consuming it, they are eventually going to be influenced by it and want to participate in it,” Bubba Sparxxx said.
After gaining prominence with his Billboard Top 20 single “Ugly,” Sparxxx’s Dark Days, Bright Nights album was certified gold by the RIAA in 2001. His 2006 single “Ms New Booty” peaked at #7 on Billboard magazine’s “Hot 100” chart, and was certified gold by the RIAA after a 24-week stay on the charts. Bubba’s latest album, 2013’s Pain Management, is available now via BackRoad Records/Average Joes Entertainment.

Charlie Sheen says his ex-wife Brooke Mueller is a dangerous, EVIL whore who’s putting their twin boys in SERIOUS DANGER … and now, Charlie says he’s on a mission to stop her before it’s too late.
Sheen just called TMZ and told us … his 4-and-a-half year old twin boys Bob and Max have already suffered physical and emotional damage from the time they’ve spent in Brooke’s care.
Charlie says the boys are deathly afraid of Brooke’s house — which is covered in pet lizards, various insects and other critters — and they suffer night terrors after spending time at the home.
Charlie also says Bob suffered a bad rash on his face after recently spending time with Brooke — a rash that “looked like somebody burned him.”
Charlie says he’s complained to L.A. Child Services — but they refuse to help. Instead, Charlie claims, Brooke is getting MORE custody … and he doesn’t understand why.
Sheen ripped Child Services on a Twitter rant last night — calling them “douche bags” who have done nothing to protect his children. He also called Brooke an “evil and pathetic über loser” and a “whore.”
Sheen says Brooke is supposed to get her first unsupervised overnight visit with the twins tonight — and Charlie says he’s very afraid of what could happen.
Charlie says he’s not sure if Brooke is back on drugs, but he is sure about one thing — “She’s as awful a parent and a person as you can possibly draw up.”

Chance The Rapper was apparently offered a deal with TDE.
In a new interview with MTV’s Rap Fix Live, Chicagoan emcee Chance The Rapper revealed that Top Dog Entertainment offered him a record deal, which he declined.
“They didn’t almost sign me, they wanted to sign me” he clarified, after being asked about the rumor. “Don’t say it like that, though. I turned down being signed… All of those guys are my good friends. That whole camp is great.”
Chance explained his stance in an earlier interview on BET’s 106 & Park:
“I think it’s mad important for the American Dream to exist and work, and for people to believe in a homegrown and grassroots business,” he said. “I’m on tour now. I’ve only signed mixtapes, never signed to a label. Everything that I do is a part of my own business, and I think that in doing so, as an independent artist, it gives some stake back in the music industry.”
Chance wants to continue working with the TDE roster, though, specifically mentioning Ab-Soul, who he collaborated with on “Smoke Again”.
“Soul was an amazing collab because it came out of nowhere,” Chance said. “We became close friends and then we [collaborated]. I think he’s been busy… But we’ll get it in when I get to L.A.”

NBA Player Lamar Odom Allegedly Addicted To Crack Cocaine. Marriage To Khloe Kardashian In Jeopardy
Lamar Odom has a hardcore drug abuse problem and it’s threatening to derail his marriage to Khloe Kardashian, according to TMZ.
TMZ reported on Wednesday (August 23) that Odom has had a substance abuse problem for at least 2 years. Today another report surfaced that his drug of choice is crack cocaine. Odom, who played for the Los Angeles Clippers last season, was forced into rehab by Khloe last August. She was so concerned that he would bolt the facility that she hired private investigators to keep an eye on it 24 hours a day to make sure he wouldn’t leave.
Odom stayed for 3 weeks before leaving. He was clean throughout the last basketball season before relapsing.
Things got so bad that the entire Kardashian family staged an intervention last week to convince the NBA player to get clean, but he refused.
After the failed intervention, Khloe booted him from their home. No divorce papers have been filed by either one of them as of yet, but the marriage is definitely in trouble.
Odom’s future in the NBA is unknown. The league does offer a drug rehabilitation program for players who admit to a substance abuse problem or test positive for a banned substance.
