In usual Tim Westwood fashion, the radio legend felt it was right to uncover this unreleased Mos Def freestyle dating all the way back to 2000. That was long before the name change, but nevertheless, the bars were still impeccable. Press play to listen below and let’s just hope Yasiin gets through this ongoing migration issue so he could get back to the music.

Long Beach rapper and FADER cover star Vince Staples has proven his impressive freestyle skills during his appearances on Sway in the Morning and Real Late with Rosenberg. Recently, Staples headed back to the Hot97 studio to guest on Funkmaster Flex’s show and spit on RZA’s beat for Raekwon’s “Ice Cream.”

In the video clip, Staples is standing and hunched over the microphone as he goes in for 3 minutes straight. During the lengthy freestyle, Staples references his previous mental health issues (Used to have depression, used to have a couple mood swings) and shouts out M.I.A. (Every night on my knees I pray/My next girl look like M.I.A.). The rapper also provides his take on the Black Lives Matter movement and makes an impassioned plea to his community:

If my black lives matter motherfucker stop killing/ If my black lives matter motherfucker stop snitching/ If my black lives matter motherfucker start business in your hood/ Instead of letting fucking Starbucks in it/ If my black lives matter then respect our women/ If my black lives matter don’t neglect our children/ If my black lives matter, if the police take my shit/ With a pistol, don’t march, go kill ’em.

While fans are still waiting for Meek Mill to drop his long-awaited DC 4 project, the Philadelphia rapper stopped by Funk Flex’s studio last night to drop a crazy freestyle. During the freestyle, Meek took shots at just about everyone, focusing on his recent beefs with Game and Beanie Sigel (and of course, Drake).

Here’s a few standout lines from his nearly eight-minute freestyle:

“Ridin’ down Broad Street I’m in that ‘Bach again/I bully niggas unlike Mack again – Philly!”

“Posted up with Nicki, that’s when it gets tricky/niggas in they feelings, that’s when they get Drizzy”

“Speaking on the ‘Chasers, we definitely get busy/We get money, stay 100, we never keep it 50/And we don’t co-sign no rats over here my G/Only scopes on them straps over here my G”

“Views from the trap nigga/I’m back with two nines – Warren Sapp, nigga”

“You fake if you don’t speak to him/Real as soon as you wave, I get it/Favorite singer? Favorite rapper? I hit it I’m with it/Try and tell me I’m losing and niggas winning?/They don’t want to see me on the yacht (no!)/They don’t want to see me in the drop (no!)/Coming down Collins with my young niggas wildin’ /vroom vroom twelve o’ clock (whoa!)”

“Kill ‘em with success, they gon’ kill me with emojis/Kill me with a meme, you pussies could never expose me”

Murda Mook’s first time on Flex and he DID NOT come to play!

Remy Ma is back on the career upswing after her and Fat Joe scored an unexpected hit with “All the Way Up.” Now, they’re doing press to promote their new song “Cookin” with French Montana. Remy stopped by Shade 45 to do exactly that, but couldn’t leave without dropping a nice little freestyle along the way. Although it’s only a minute long, Remy uses her time on the mic to remind us just why we missed her.

“I ain’t even gotta try hard, these hoes diarrhea/They shit watery, get the fuck out of here,” she spits. “Bulletproof everything, not just the vest/Fuck what you think, I’m aiming just for your chest/Headshots like I’m taking pics for the press/Lay hands on the bitch, now who wanna get blessed/I’m trying to see what’s up, yeah I’m about a check/It’s the school of hard knocks, I done passed every test.”

Remy and Fat Joe’s joint album Platas o Plomo (which translates to Money or Bullets in Spanish) is currently in the works. Although it doesn’t have a release date as of yet, its garnered more buzz than either artist has had in a long while, exciting fans of the veteran NYC rappers. “I’m super excited about [the album],” Fat Joe said back in February. “The album is ridiculous. So we’ve been working musically like crazy.”

Dave East visits Flex and kills it AGAIN!

Vic Mensa is the latest guest to appear on BBC Radio 1xtra with DJ Semtex. After giving a thorough interview about There’s Alot Going On, he kicks an exclusive freestyle that contains a line about Justin Timberlake.

The Roc Nation signee has been very vocal about Timberlake’s response to Jesse Williams’ speech at the BET Awards. When a Twitter user asked the singer if he was going to stop appropriating black music and culture, Timberlake responded, “Oh, you sweet soul. The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Bye.” He later apologized saying that he felt misunderstood: “I have nothing but LOVE FOR YOU AND ALL OF US.”

Tim Westwood stays sitting on a goldmine. Here he is, back at it again with yet another crazy throwback Thursday track, this unreleased Jay Z freestyle from the Volume 3 era. The UK radio legend takes us all back to that time Jay dropped the Life & Times of Shawn Carter Vol. 3, arguably when Hov was in his prime, so you can hear the hunger in his rhymes. Shoutout to Tim Westwood for this gem, listen below.

Yesterday, the first installment in XXL’s series of cyphers for their 2016 XXL Freshmen rankings surfaced. That release featured bars from Desiigner, Anderson .Paak and Lil Dicky. For the second round, XXL serve up bars from Lil Uzi Vert, Denzel Curry, Lil Yachty, Kodak Black and 21 Savage. While Denzel Curry goes for a more traditional style and proves he’s an emcee’s emcee, the rest feed off each other and spit like they’re locked in a studio session together. You can check out the second installment in XXL’s Freshmen Cypher series below.
