Donald Sterling say’s ‘I’m Not A Racist’

Former Clippers owner Donald Sterling broke his silence in an exclusive interview with Anderson Cooper airing tomorrow night, in which he insisted that he’s not as racist as the hourlong recording made him out to be.

“I’m not a racist, I made a terrible, terrible mistake,” he told Cooper, saying that wanted “to ask for forgiveness for all the people that I’ve hurt. And I’ve hurt so many people…When I listen to that tape, I don’t even know how I can say words like that.”

As to why he waited for nearly two weeks to make any apologies, Sterling said that he was “just so emotionally distraught, and the reason it’s hard for me, very hard for me is that I’m wrong. I caused the problem. I don’t know how to correct it.”

In addition, he claimed that V. Stiviano, the woman he made racist statements to in the leaked recordings, had “baited” him (“I thought she liked me and really cared for me”), and, strikingly, didn’t pay attention when the Clippers turned their jerseys inside out to protest his racist remarks.

“They are Clippers, and they’re mine and I’m theirs,” he said, adding that he hoped “it’s in their heart to forgive” him for his mistakes.
